My New Llama Friend!

Look at the sidebar! Everyone, I would like to introduce you all to George, the Llama. Click on him and he'll say hi! :-D Okay, I'm a dork. But you hafta admit, George is rather cute... and funny. I guess that makes him a lady's man. Shootdang... George, you're not supposed to steal my spotlight. No, I just kidding... ah hem...

I kill you.

What? You're going to kill me?

No, I just kidding.

That was for you Zay. :-P

Yeah, I'm weird like that... if you haven't figured it out yet. It's also late so that makes me odder... sounds like otter... wee :-P okay so I'm done. Now that you all think I'm this crazy dude with no life... well, I guess that's pretty accurate actually, heh.

By the way, I really should add on a serious note. God is awesome. I mean, when I look back and see everything that's happened here in Tulsa that has influenced and shaped me, I think He did quite a bit. I should also mention that God really does provide. I mean, I needed a job really badly and He said okay and here I am working! Neat huh? I kick myself everyday for taking all that for granted. I mean, I'm not starving to death, well... anymore :-P and I have enough to be able to drive to work, get food, and pay for bills. I don't have much room to gripe do I? heh. Good lesson for me. So what has God been teaching you lately?

and yes, it's late... I tend to get more theological and willing to discuss when it's later at night (it's the TU in me! :-P)

Well, I better shuffle off to bed, it's almost 2am. Ack! Seriously though, answer that question I posed just a few sentences ago. I'd like to read and see what God's been doing in everyone's lives ^_^. G'night everyone, God's blessings to you all!

I like late nights...

Back home from work again ^_^ I'm not really tired though. I have really missed these late nights. It gives me a chance to do things that I haven't done in awhile... like update this blog :-P and talk to whoever's still up (usually paul, hehe) also gives me a chance to read... there's a strange verb as of late. Hopefully I won't be too tired to wake up in the mornings too, hehe. Ah well.

My test went well today. I did a lot better than I thought I would. I ended up with an 80% which was pretty decent given that the class average was 74% or something like that. All that quiz told me was that this class is going to work my brain a little. Poor little underworked brain hit a wall and woke up screaming. I'm glad for that at least. I forgot my lunch today for work, genius me remembers a lot of things :-P No really, I've started to forget a lot of dumb things... maybe it's just cuz I'm getting older, but it's definitely getting kinda irritating. I mean, I have a crappy memory as it is, but I'm starting to forget things that you usually don't forget, like my contacts... yeah, I almost walked out the door to class w/o them in. Smart huh? Oh well... Call me Old Geezer :-P Well, I'm gonna go. Maybe I'll start LOTR again and read during my breaks in class :-D That'll be neat. Anyway, gotta jet!

Bye!

stupid llamas...

So it's late, but I thought I should write a little bit. I got off of work early tonight so I could study for this test/quiz tomorrow that's all fill-in-the-blank. Sounds like fun huh? Yeah, loads of it, let me tell ya. :-P Honestly, I don't think I'm going to do that well. It's 150 open book, open note questions and 50 close book, no notes. It's all fill-in-the-blank and there's no word bank unfortunately. I don't think I know the information well enough to do well, but I can always hope for something to sink in before the test :-D Yay for cramming! hehe.

Anyway, I should get to bed... otherwise, I'll be too tired to take the stupid thing. Catcha you guys later!

An End to the Work Week

So I've been working these past couple of days and so far, things are turning out pretty well. I like my job for the most part and it's not too difficult. Most of the phones have a single problem and I just fix them and if I can't, I "stf" them, which means it gets sent back to the manufacturer (STF = Send to Factory). Oh and on the first day of work, my supervisor wanted to look at my phone. He wanted to see how it came apart and ended up breaking the LCD screen. So needless to say, there's a big purple splotch in the middle of my phone with bluish lines around it and a bunch of cracks. I wasn't too happy when that happened, but he felt bad and wanted to pay for the damages. Turns out, if they can... Guy (the big boss guy) wants to get brand new plastics for my phone along with the LCD screen, which is really kewl of him. Anyway, today was fun at work. We went to a Chinese buffet for lunch break but they go every Friday apparently. I like the group of guys I work with. They're far from Wheatonites or the people I usually associate myself with, but this is a good stretch for me. I guess God wants me to be able to talk to all sorts of people and befriend them... good thinking on His part I think, even though sometimes I don't really like it. hehe. Ah well. Anyway, it's late. I should get some rest. I'll update some more tomorrow.

Bye!

work work work...

That's all I seem to do these days :-P Not really. Actually, I just got a job troubleshooting and repairing cell phones for a company called CAT. I don't know much about them because I got hired on as a temp through an agency but I'm excited. I get pretty decent pay for a student and it'll be enough to survive on without asking more from my parents. Also, I start tomorrow after class, heh. Zay called me tonight :-) That was a nice surprise. I like it when she calls me out of the blue. But then, I like to leave messages on her phone too. Maybe someday I'll get to see her again :-P Really, it looks like I won't be able to see her again until December... that makes me sad, but she'll be in France and doing what she loves to do. Learning languages, cultures, and meeting new people is what she does best. I'm happy for her. It may stink like poop on a platter not being able to see her but then again, I can't tell her not to go. That's selfish on my part and a hindrance to her so yeah... even so, I miss her.

Well anyway, it's late. I have class tomorrow, as usual and my first day at work! heh. I'll be sure to update more later.

First Day of Class

So today was the first day of Electronic Communication Systems (ECom). From the lecture today, it seems like the class is going to be primarily lecture and very little lab. Honestly, I bet the only lab we really have is the construction of the transmitter and receiver circuits. Ah well... I guess that means mostly Engineering, woo! hehe. Well, there's a new guy in the class and I think his name is Michael. I'm not sure. Anyway, if I remember correctly, he tends not to think before he speaks... which usually gets him into trouble. Last term he almost got beat up cuz he said something derogatory to a black guy. Ah well.

My drive back here was okay. I was pretty aware of what was going on most of the drive down (good thing eh?). I called Zay a ways into the drive to ease my boredom, but she had to go so that was shortlived. Then she called me back and I think we talked for a about 45 minutes, but she was tired too so she went to bed. For the remainder of the drive, I spent my drive listening to political talk radio and pondering the bipartisan politics concerning present day situations. I noticed that there's a lot blame being thrown around both parties. I was intrigued when they labeled each other Rights and Lefts pertaining to each wing affiliation. There were valid arguments as to why these situations in London, Iraq, New York, etc were happening. There were obviously terrorist attacks but each party believed the attacks were fueled by different things. Apparently, the Liberals (Lefts) believe it's because the United States screwed up in the 70's, 80's, & 90's with a poor foreign affairs doctrine, claiming that the United States' actions in the past triggered the recent attacks. They blame the Rights for focusing too much on Iraq and not enough on Al Qaeda. The Conservatives (Rights) believe these attacks to be a strategic maneuver to undermine the morale and determination of specific countries (i.e. The UK). They blame the Lefts for being illogical and criticizing the War in Iraq.

Quite honestly, I lean more towards the Rights and agree that Iraq has to set up a Democratic Gov't in which all citizens elect officials to spearhead the government. In doing so, a politically unique Iraq can be an example to other countries and serve to effectively counter terrorism. However, as far as blaming goes... I don't really care. Why blame someone else? Frankly, blaming each other isn't going to help the United States in the long run. All blame is doing is causing unrest and divisions within the country. Why allow ourselves to do that again? If I remember correctly, Vietnam did the same thing to people in this country. Those soldiers were pulled out and they received no recognition, no parade, no honor when they returned home. In the end, the biggest mistake the United States did at that time was pull its troops out. Yes, it was costly to America, but because America went in and intervened in the first place, I would argue that it was more costly to those countries that were engulfed in that conflict. Had the United States stuck it out, things may have turned out differently, who knows. My point is, don't remove the troops from Iraq until Iraq is ready to be Iraq, on its own, self-sufficient, unique, dynamic. Doing so may repeat the devastations of Vietnam and the years that followed.

So I didn't mean to go on that shpeil, but that's what I did for another 2 or 3 hours :-) Anyway... it's getting late, and I'm tired... class again tomorrow, boo. Catch you guys later!

Independence Day Celebrations

I spent most of today sleeping actually. I guess I was really tired. I wasn't sure why. I got back home at a decent hour (around 4-ish in the afternoon) that sunday, so I don't know why. Anyway, I got up around 2:00pm today and just farted around. Rachael & Natalie (the dynamic duo) showed up around 5 and we made smoothies, fried rice, and some bbq'd chicken. We had some interesting smoothie combinations (strawberry/mango/pineapple, kiwi/banana - not so good, and mango/banana/pineapple). Then we went out and picked up Sam, with all of our food at Rachael's house. We ate the food and went out to watch the fireworks! That was exciting. Zay called right when the fireworks started and I got even more excited cuz she doesn't usually call on Mondays :-D and I kinda like her too... ^_^

I tried sending her a few pictures of the fireworks, but I don't know if they ever went through. It was kewl though cuz we were pretty close to where they were setting them off. Loud, bright, and pretty they were. I was kinda disappointed at the Finale though. It wasn't what I expected, not nearly as extravagant. Anyway, during the fireworks, I got to thinking. How much do we take our freedoms for granted? I mean, I don't know about anybody else, but I do a lot. It's not that I forget that there are people dieing for this country, but I just... don't think about it. It may be different because I'm not originally from the States but I grew up here. So I'd like to think that I know this culture pretty well. Anyway, I'm not sure where I was going with that. After the fireworks show, we all hung out and went to Steak & Shake for root beer floats... we were all craving it oddly enough. Anyway, I just got back from all that stuff and I'm pretty pooped now, so I'm gonna crash on my bed now. Maybe I'll wake up late again, who knows? :-D

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity-Jig

Here I am! Back home again, hehe. I guess I never said that I was gonna be gone this weekend, but I was! Anyway, I was in Burlington for Frankie and Anna's wedding, which was a lot of fun by the way, and I'm happy for them. They're a good pair and I pray for the best. Maybe there'll be little Frankie's running around soon :-D Ya never know, hehe. Speaking of which, a warm Congratulations to Josh and Beth Zapf on the recent addition to their family! Little Olivia Zapf is quite the looker I hear, hehe. So yeah, it's late. I'm tired, and I don't really know why I'm still up.

I dropped Zay off at Indianapolis Int'l Airport today and saw her off back to Boston. It was kinda sad... I was definitely happy, thankful, and grateful for the chance to have been able to see her again though. I miss her a lot sometimes and I wish I had the chance to see her more often... of course, having the same phone plan works out very well and I'm thankful for the opportunity to at least be able to talk to her... or just leave random voicemail messages on her phone :-D cuz, you know... I do that. Well, I don't know what else to say right now so I'll be off for now. I'll update more maybe later on in the day.

Happy Independence Day to all you Americans out there :-P
